Our Mission
AIR, Inc. enables people, organizations and governments to
make well-informed decisions regarding policies, human services, and
organizational change in response to changing needs and resources.
Our Vision
AIR commits itself to helping to improve the
quality of urban life for all citizens.
AIR's capacity for playing such a role exists in its abilities to address
community issues with research, information and communication skills, and
to put diverse local leaders together to deal with issues.
It acts as a practical analyst and developer of public policy.
Our Goal
To improve community decision-making.
Our Strategies
To provide information to people who make community
decisions and to facilitate an exchange of views and information between
these leaders.
To provide information to the public in order that
citizens are aware of, knowledgeable about, and involved in community
decisions that affect their lives.

William K. Woods, President
Bill Woods is Founder and President of AIR.
From 1968 to the present, he has worked in the fields of urban affairs and
public policy as a consultant, researcher, writer, community organizer,
and college professor. He served as a principal on urban research projects
for the National Civic League, the Kettering Foundation, the Greater
Cincinnati Foundation, the Stephen H. Wilder Foundation, the Ford
Foundation, and the Episcopal Church Foundation. Topics of his research
and writing include housing, homelessness, campaign finance reform,
neighborhood and community organizing, economic development, federalism,
regionalism, citizen participation, the church in the city and various
local government issues. He served as a contributing editor for Urban
Resources, the National Civic Review, and the North American Review, and
he has written articles for numerous publications. Woods also taught urban
studies at Wilmington College and the University of Cincinnati.
Edward L. Burdell, Director
Ed Burdell, CEO and co-founder of AIR, has
an extensive background in regional planning and the government sector.
Mr. Burdell received his BA from Washington and Lee University and Masters
of Community Planning from the University of Cincinnati. Additionally, Mr. Burdell has studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the
Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Alice
B. Schneider, Assistant Director
Alice Schneider is the Communications
Director of AIR, Inc. She has a BA in English from Ohio State University
and Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati. Ms. Schneider was
an educator in the Cincinnati Public Schools for many years before working
at Ohio Citizen Action in the public and social policy area. Ms.
Schneider has held
several leadership positions in various civic and volunteer organizations
in Cincinnati. She was president of Woman’s City Club of Greater
Cincinnati and state president of the American Association of University Women.
